Austria-Hungary Serbia
Austro-Hungarian and Serbian Relations
Ever since the Balkan Wars, which had increased the size of Serbia, tensions had been high between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. In the Balkan Wars, Serbia had taken a lot of land from Austria-Hungary. Count Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf of Austria-Hungary was a firm leader in the opposistion, and threatened war on Serbia twenty-four times.
When Serbia took the land, it greatly weakened the Ottoman Empire in Turkey and took Bulgaria. Since the Ottoman Empire was an ally of Austria-Hungary, Austria-Hungary threatened war on Serbia if any more of Turkey (the Ottoman Empire). When Serbia took the land, Austria-Hungary pleaded with Germany for help. Oddly enough, Germany refused at this time.
