Galviro Princip
The Assasination
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was asassinated on June 28th, 1914. His assasination was planned by a group of six Serbian extremists, and was asassinated because he was the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne.
What is not known about the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand is that there were other assasination attempts on his way to the Sarajevo town hall. The first was not considered an attampt, because the asassain became scared and did not shoot the Archduke. The second was by another member of the six-man group and tried to throw a bomb under the Archduke's car. He missed, and the bomb went under the next car, blowing up that one. The asassain, seeing his attempt fail, swallowed a pill of cyanide and tried to jump into the Archduke's car and stab him. He was unsuccesful, since the cyanide did not kill him later but caused him to immediately start to vomit.
When the archduke arrived at the hall, he told everyone what had happened. He was guarded when he left, but that did not stop Galviro Princip.
Galviro Princip was the backup plan of the whole operation. He was supposed to shoot him from far away, but with the protection, he couldn't. So he ran up to the car and thot the Archduke and his wife.
Galviro Princip was later tried for murder. He was sentenced for 20 years in prison. The rest of the group was caught, and suffered various sentences, some the death penalty.
