Hotchkiss Machine gun
The Hotchkiss machine gun was Frances main tripod mounted machine gun. It fired 8mm lebel rounds out of a metal strip magazine that was later considered a terrible design flaw. The gun proved it self reliable however its weight of 40 kg or 88 pounds made it an extremley unreasonable load to carry and made the Hotchkiss a very stationary weapon.
Lebel 1886
The Lebel 1886 rifle was another bolt action rifle that fired the 8mm Lebel round. It held 8 rounds and had a 1rps rate of fire. It was also one of the most accurate on the battle field. It was in place in the French army for over 30 years but was retired due to the discovery of semi automatic fire system.
